Meet Harriet.

Why I built Debt Set Legal — and who it's for.

I built Debt Set Legal because I kept seeing the same thing — good people and small businesses spending more chasing a debt than it was actually worth. That's an access to justice problem, and it frustrated me.

What most people outside the legal industry don't realise is that Small Claims Court isn't like the courtroom dramas you see on TV. The strict rules and formalities don't apply here. It's designed with fairness and accessibility in mind — deliberately simple, and designed for everyday people.

But the traditional legal services model built on hourly rates is often too expensive and too complicated for what these cases actually need. There had to be a better way.

So I built it.

Whether you're a small business owner, a sole trader, or someone just trying to recover what's owed to you, I built this to help you get it sorted. Simply and affordably.

Why I created Debt Set Legal

As a lawyer working in disputes, one thing became obvious. Most people want to do something about the client who's ignored them on payment, or that product or service that didn’t live up to what they were promised.

When it comes to small claims, they often feel stuck between two unhelpful options: pay thousands for legal help, or try to figure it out completely alone.

Debt Set Legal was created as something in the middle - to make help in that moment clearer, simpler, and far more accessible.
